circa 1887, with octagonal 24in. barrel (re-proved for black-powder in 2017), dovetailed fore-sight with nickel blade, elevating buckhorn rear-sight, the top-flat of barrel marked 'WHITNEY ARMS CO WHITNEYVILLE CONN', plain receiver with top-ejection, the top-tang marked 'WHITNEY ARMS CO. PAT'D DECEMBER 21 1886', walnut straight-hand butt-stock, iron semi-crescent heel-plate, full finger-loop to underlever, plain walnut fore-end with iron nose-cap and full-length under-barrel magazine, traces of finish
