for 1898, with re-blued extra heavy octagonal to round 29 3/4in. barrel, the top-flat at front of octagonal section signed 'MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO NEW HAVEN CONN U.S.A.', dove-tailed tunnel fore-sight with interchangeable element, buck-horn rear-sight, slab-sided 'High-Wall' action (traces of fade colour hardening), blued falling-block with central auto-cocking hammer, top-tang drilled for tang-sight, walnut butt-stock with iron crescent heel-plate, cocking lever forming the trigger-guard and schnabel splinter fore-end with inlet ebony tip
