circa 1845, with browned twist-iron smooth-bore 8in. barrels, the top-rib signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS, 150 NEW BOND ST. LONDON', bead fore-sight, scroll engraved rib-end at breech and fully engraved top-tang, platinum line and plugs, borderline and scroll engraved bar-action locks signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS', sliding safes behind the scroll engraved dolphin-headed hammers, walnut full-stock with chequered bag-shaped butt (old inlet repair above barrel wedge on left hand side), guarded double triggers, white-metal clipped corner rectangular escutcheon to wrist and oval white-metal barrel-key escutcheons, horn fore-end tip and swivel stirrup iron captive ramrod, the pistol refinished in antiquity
