circa 1845, with heavy octagonal 33 1/2in. barrel, recessed muzzle, tunnel fore-sight, no provision for rear-sight on barrel, borderline engraved breech-block with moulded snail, broad short top-tang with micro adjustable peep-sight, borderline engraved bar-action hump-backed lock signed 'HN. JAQUET GENEVE' in gothic script (traces of colour), borderline engraved hammer, plain walnut half-stock with raised cheek-piece, heavy iron hooked butt-plate, 'hogs-bristle' double set trigger within an broad complex double finger-spurred plain iron quick detachable guard, the 'hogs-bristle' blade with carved 'snakes-tongue' protector, full length fore-end iron with side reinforcing ears and integral ramrod throat, the strap fitted midway with a detachable turned horn mushroom palm-rest, plain ramrod pipes and swivels, wooden ramrod with mushroom pommel (loss to pommel), weight approximately 18lbs.
