Continental, possibly Belgian circa 1850, with re-browned 30in. barrels, no fore-sight, shallow carved sighting rib at breech, symmetrical fenced nipples, fully engraved top-tang, flat engraved back-action locks with radiused tails, engraved hammers, walnut half-stock with carved cheek-piece terminating in a rosette, the chequered wrist terminating in acanthus carving and chequered fore-end with carved tip, iron furniture, the heel-plate signed in script, possibly 'J. RUBERTA, G.P. BERLINI 1826', scrolled lower tang and side-mounted wooden ramrod, some pitting to barrels externally, especially at breech
