circa 1862, with 25in. blued barrel marked 'WHITWORTH RIFLING' over '450 BORE', commercial proofs, block and blade fore-sight, small elevating ladder rear-sight, breech-end and nipple bolster of 'monkey-tail carbine' form, solid top-tang, plain bar-action lock, walnut three-quarter stock also of 'monkey-tail carbine' form but with fully chequered straight grip and wrist-back, brass furniture except single iron barrel-band and jag-ended ramrod (rear swivel absent)
