A RARE HUNTING HANGER COMBINED WITH AN 80-BORE FLINTLOCK PISTOL, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number,
circa 1770, possibly English, with straight 23in. single-edged blade false edged for the last 5 1/2in. (tip re-profiled), blind narrow fuller along the back edge with a broad fuller below for the majority of the blades length, the right hand side bearing an octagonal 4in. barrel, the reverse with pan, frizzen and spring, plain iron shell guard with borderline engraving, iron 'D' shaped knucklebow, natural staghorn grip slotted for the exposed hammer, the exposed trigger extending within the knucklebow and grotesque mask domed iron pommel, pitting to all exposed iron surfaces
