circa 1785, with 9in. slightly swamped barrel signed by the maker on the top-flat (rubbed, mostly illegible) and engraved with bands of geometric carving at the breech, bead fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, the top-tang engraved with borderlines and foliage, border engraved flat bevel edged lock signed 'J. PROBIN' and with stepped-tail and roller, sliding safe behind the hammer, gilt touch-hole, walnut full stock with chequered bag-shaped butt, engraved iron mounts including trigger-guard with pineapple finial and horn-tipped ramrod
