LONDON.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 3/4 choke in all, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, fluted fences, removable striker discs, best fine acanthus scroll engraving, retaining virtually full renewed colour-hardening and finish, left-handed triggers,15 3/4in. highly-figured replacement stocks slightly cast on, weight 7lb., in a new leather double motor case with canvas outer.
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the guns were completed in 1896 for Archibald Smith Esq. and that they were first re-barrelled by them in 1925.
Other Notes: The makers have also kindly supplied the following information regarding the guns: "This pair of guns have been "re-manufactured". This process takes renovation many stages further; the actions having been stripped, pins, swivels and springs replaced before being re-colour-hardened. The woodwork and barrels have also been replaced in a process that provides one with a vintage shotgun with the life expectancy of a new item." The maker's have also informed us that to adapt the guns for the right shoulder would be a simple process. Estimate £20,000-25,000
