A 12-BORE 'GRADE E.M.' BOXLOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 22604,
28in. nitro barrels, rib engraved 'T. WILD. 17-18 WHITTALL STREET. BIRMINGHAM.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and full choke, treble-grip action, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, border and acanthus scroll engraving surrounding vignettes of pheasant and hound, retaining traces of original colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/2in. semi-pistolgrip stock including 1in. wooden extension, gold escutcheon engraved C.H.F., weight 6lb. 13oz.
Provenance: This lot is accompanied by correspondence between the makers and a C.H. Foote Esq., the original purchaser of the gun.
The letters indicate that this gun was ordered in March 1960, and was completed roughly one year later.
Colin Henry Foote (1929 - 2015) was born in Weston on the Wirral, and started wildfowling aged around 18, and he wrote for the Shooting Times under the Nom de Plume of 'Pintail'
